When You Should Invest in A Quality Pair of Jeans

Okay ladies, today I’m talking about all things denim! While I love my more affordable pairs from Abercrombie, there’s something to be said about a quality investment pair of jeans. Sometimes the fit and attention to detail will make a pair fit you like a glove, making them the ones you constantly reach for. So, today I’m sharing some tips for when you should (of shouldn’t) invest in a quality pair of jeans.

First things first, I snagged this pair of Nili Lotan jeans a couple months ago and let me just tell you… I’m obsessed! Now, they’re a splurge but I’ve already styled them so many ways and they’re one of those fits that are not only flattering, but will never go out of style. In fact, I’m styling them eight different ways to show you girls just how versatile they are! I also showed exactly how I styled them in this video. From casual Fridays to date nights and everything in between, these jeans have certainly become my new favorite pair.

1. THEY FIT LIKE A GLOVE

If they fit like a glove then you know when you should or shouldn’t invest in a quality pair of jeans. Just because a pair of jeans are on the pricey side doesn’t mean you should buy them. They should truly fit like they were made for you and flatter your figure. Everyone’s body type is different and different styles will look better on some than others. So, I suggest knowing what flatters your figure best and stick to those fits.

2. THEY ARE A TIMELESS STYLE

From flares to skinnies, to super baggy and tapered styles, jean trends come and go. However, some styles tend to be more universal allowing them to withstand the times. I love that these jeans are more of a straight leg so they’re (of course) flattering but also timeless and not too trendy. I’d also stay away from acid washes, a lot of distressing, or over the top fading. I’d also stick with a medium wash - while light wash denim had its moment over the last few years, I’m seeing more dark washes come into style - so best to stay neutral.

3. THEY GO WITH PIECES ALREADY IN YOUR CLOSET

There’s nothing worse than being excited about a new pair of jeans just to realize they don’t go with anything in your closet (especially an investment pair)! You don’t want to have to build a new wardrobe around something new, so make sure whatever pair you decide on will go with what you already have. If you’re a workwear girlie, make sure the jeans can be dressed up with a blazer and some heels. If you’re a t-shirt and jeans kind of a girl, make sure your new pair looks good styled more casually.

4. YOU TRULY LOVE THEM

Most importantly (and probably most obvious) make sure you really love them. Just because a pair of jeans fits you like a glove or is super flattering, doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily wear them. Maybe you like a more comfortable fit, or maybe you love those trendier styles? Skinny jeans were in style for like ten years, so an investment pair of skinnies would have made sense. Go with your gut and be honest with yourself - only you know what you’ll actually wear when it comes down to it.
