SUMMER CHIC UNDER $100
Thank you Nordstrom for sponsoring this post! All thoughts and opinions are mine.
Hi Ladies! Ok so you’ve heard the hype from EVERY blogger by this point about the sale of the year from one of mine and your favorite retailers, The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! To be honest I never really jumped on the bandwagon mainly because I felt like it got so overwhelming for you and honestly for me! But this year I decided to take a closer look by your urging. So many of you reached out asking me to cover this sale and asking for my recommendations that I thought I thought I’d give it some attention. If you’ve never shopped the Nordstrom SALE before, it’s not a regular sale, these pieces are new fall pieces and only on sale for a limited time. Prices go back up to regular price in early August! So it’s your chance to stock up on Fall Trends at a great deal.
Things sell out fast, like really fast. I got to presale at 10am and they where already sold out of a ton of stuff! I had to stalk two other San Diego stores to get what I wanted so my advice is if you love something buy it now don’t wait because it will be gone and rest assured because Nordstrom has a great return policy if it doesn’t work out!
Now let me be clear, I was super selective about what I would share with you and truly selected what I loved and what I thought would add add value to your closet.
Things to Keep in Mind:
Luxury is not included in this sale so I really focused on everyday basics that you can effortlessly mix into your wardrobe. My strategy was quality vs quantity!
DENIM: The most flattering fit for me AND all women (unless you have no hips and are a size 0) is a high rise so that is what I narrowed it down to, the MOST flattering denim for you! I payed a lot of attention to quality of wash and cut. The denim I didn’t include was because to be honest, it made hips look wide or the wash didn’t stand up to par for me. AND I TRIED a LOT of Denim!
SIZING: I included the sizes I bought for reference if you want a similar fit. Remember size is nothing but a number and my goal is always to style for an effortless fit NOT to fit into a number!
Below is a FALL Checklist to to get you started and keep you focused on need vs want!
Hope it helps! Xo Happy Shopping!
FALL TREND CHECKLIST:
Denim: Flares & Skinnies
Sweaters & Cardigans
Basics for Layering
Beauty & Skincare Sets
One of the most requested items you girls wanted reviewed was leather jackets and I tried them all! I ended up buying two that I absolutely love and that are amazing quality! The first is the jacket above that on the hanger I didn’t think much of it but when I felt the leather I had to try it! Literally feels like butter and then I tried it on and was blow away by the fit! I’m obsessed with the collar detail, so chic! Wearing an XS.
This second one I had to buy online today as soon as it went live because it was already sold out in the store! It is the most gorgeous blush color but what I love is the contrast black detailing so it will pair perfect in the fall/winter. And I actually have a few All Saints jackets and love the quality! Size up they run small. I’m bought a size 4.
This last one below I loved but didn’t pick because I literally have 5 that look just like it BUT if you don’t own a great black moto you need is this i your closet. This is the size XS It’s super soft and there’s enough room in the arms to layer with sweaters. Love that!
Ok, lets talk sweaters and this sweater (left) is SO good! It runs big so size down, I’m wearing an XS because I like the extra length to wear with leather leggings and cover my bum but i could have worn the XXS. I have it in grey from last years sale and absolutely love and have styled it so many times. I will def say that rust is the color of the season and i can’t get enough. I bought 3 sweaters in this color but they all look slightly different so I’m keeping them!
The sweater on the right I love because I can wear is off the shoulders or not. I love that option and anytime I can show clavicle I do! :)
Every year I invest in a cashmere cardigan and this year this one went home with me! It is as soft as a dream and I know I’ll wear it constantly! I sized up to a S so I could layer and get that easy drape I like.
Basics are a must and I restock on these long sleeve tees every year! Super flattering and look great under my motos, coats or sweater when it gets really cold without adding bulk. I;’m wearing the XS and I bought in black too. Here’s some more basics I loved. Including the below sheer top, it was hard to photograph but it is so flattering!!! It is sheer so would be so chic with a pretty lace bra or with a slim cami for work.
Denim is expensive so this is the best time to get your designer denim at prices you won’t see again. I will be honest I tried EVERY pair of jeans from the sale and I really fell in love with three pairs that I took home with me. These grey wash jeans, these clean black skinnies that I love the button details of and wore in alsmost every photo above (Size 25 TTS) and these flares! In my opinion these are the best of the best and what you need for a fall wardrobe.
There is so many great coats and right now is def the time pick your up before price tags go up! My take on coats is i always think about what I’m missing on those special occasion nights when a moto jacket isn’t appropriate BUT will also styel efforlessly with my jeans and heels. I also like a coat to have an interesting detail and great tailoring otherwise my frame gets swallowed up and I look like I’m wearing a sack! All of these get my approval, super chic and great quality!
Blazers are essential in my wardrobe and this is where I am willing to spend more. I bought two blazers this season that are both investment pieces but they are both so timeless and perfectly tailored that I will own them forever! I already own this blazer above in black and wear it ALL the time so I had to have this grey wool version.
The second I got was this plaid blazer that is SO amazing! The web pics don’t do justice on the fit and details. And I love that it’s subtle plaid so very wearable.
I fell in love with this amazing sweatshirt, the drape is so cool and it can be worn a bunch of different ways! It’s perfect for gym days as well as casual Sundays! I honestly haven’t invested in athletic wear in years. I’ve literally been wearing the same 2 leggings for too long so I stocked up and hope that will motivate me to get my but moving ha! Below is everything I bought!
Boots boots give me all the boots! I know it’s the middle of summer but you can snag SO many great boots for fall and such great prices that it’s a no brainier! Or if you’re like me I wear my booties year around so I was super excited to shop! I loved the ones above for a n edgier take to the western trend and the heel height is perfect for comfort. Sadly my stores where sold out of a lot already so I am having to order online but these will ALL sell out fast! Boots always do so if you want them grab them now!
Hi Guys! Hope you are all enjoying summer and that you had a wonderful Holiday weekend! I’m going to keep things short and sweet today because it’s my hubbys birthday and we are off to celebrate all day!
I actually shot this look a few months ago and completely forgot about it! I loved it so I had to share now.
In this post I am styling fall pieces that are already in my closet but giving them a more edgy summer twist. If you guys recall this Anine Bing tee was on major rotation in the fall with jeans, leather pants and so on. It’s a great oversized tee that makes any look more edgy. Here I paired it with this peach suede skirt to lighten it up a bit for warmer months. I’m obsessed with this skirt and can’t wait to wear it in the fall with an oversized chunky sweater.
I don’t know about you but sometimes I have a really hard time pairing shoes with skirts/dresses! I like to have a bit of a heel or I feel too short but stilettos aren’t’ always ideal for daytime especially. I brought out my Chloe Rylee boots and loved these to give the look a bit of a western feel that is so on trend right now. These boots are an investment but you’ll own them forever and needless to say wear year around. I found them on SALE in limited sizes from this trusted website and also here full price. (PS These NEVER go on sale!)
Alright off to celebrate I go and hope you ladies have a great week!
You girls know I am a denim girl at heart. The first thing I reach for when I begin to style an outfit is always denim and build from there! And today I have a special insider treat for you from one of my favorite denim brands Sam Edelman. I bet you didn’t know that Sam Edelman makes denim right!? Or if you’ve been a Lucy’s Whims follower for a while maybe you do because I’ve styled a LOT of their denim in the past!
When Sam Edelman told me that they wr having a FLASH Sale and that they wr going to extend an exclusive code to my followers I thought it was the perfect opportunity to round up some favorite denim I’ve styled in the past that you can still get your hands on for a steal! And guess what, the discount ALSO applies on all thir SALE denim too! That means you can get premium denim for $50 or less! Whaaa!
They are extending 30% off to all my followers from June 28th-July3rd at 3am on ALL their denim!!
Let’s quickly talk fit so you know exactly what to grab! For context I wear a size 25 but in Sam Edelman jeans I sized up to a size 26 unless otherwise noted below. My die hard favorite fits are their high rise denim because who doesn’t love legs for days?! PS the fabric is soft but totally sucks you in, love that!
Scroll through to see all my denim picks, how I styled them and all my style tips! AND of course I included their fab shoe and handbag details!
It is really hard for me to find a clean pair of denim with no rips and that’s a blue color I like, these tic the boxes! I love that they are an ankle length so that I can wear them with heels or summer flats and my legs still look long! :)
These are your classic suck you in in all the right places black skinnies! These are so polished that they would be great for work business casual days. Side note, how good are these little red flats?! Love!
I love these easy wide leg summer jeans, so perfect for my day to day carpool and off duty looks! This look could also be perfect for 4th of July btw!
With summer ramping up it is time to bring out those pastels! My biggest tip when wearing pastels is to SIZE up! These seafoam jeans are nice and thick so there's no embarrassing see through accidents but I think when wearing these lighter shades you don’t want any embarrassing dimples.
Ok these have got to be my FAVORITE fit and style of the Sam Edelman collection! They are so flattering and the ankle detail is so unique and special! And talk about making your shoes have a moment!
Hey ladies! I got a lot of questions for what I packed for this monthlong trip to Spain without lugging 18 suitcases with us! I had to be really strategic because I wasn’t just packing for myself but also 3 other people and I wanted to stay married! My husband hates dealing with luggage so I wanted to be smart and hello marital bliss ha! Our Itinerary was packed with a lot of different locations and activities. On the agenda we had a family wedding and ton of formal events around it, a week in San Sebastian with lots of touristing and fine dining and finally island beach life time in Formentera.
My strategy for packing you might notice was to start with choosing a color palette so that I could mix and match and make countless outfits. I went with black, white, brown tones and of course denim. Layering in a few pops of red here and there.
Finally, I also included my beauty routine because it did change a bit for the heat and humid climate.
Hope this all helps get you summer travel ready! Where are you guys headed off to this summer?
Available outfit details linked below within sections! :)
LIGHT JACKETS FOR LAYERING
Summer in Spain is dry hot, but the evenings are cooler, so I don’t bring too many jackets. However, at least one blazer is essential because there is power in a perfectly fitting piece! Brining a blazer literally saved me in San Sebastian because I did ‘t realize how cold it was going to be in this northern city! I ended up wearing it over everything as a jacket! Layered over my sundresses and paired causally with denim. I also packed a my army jacket. During the day i wrapped it around my waist with shorts and tanks and would just easily throw it on when the evening got chilly. If you don’t have an army jacket I’d suggest a light jean jacket because it literally goes with everything! Lastly, I packed my white leather moto instead of my normal black to keep it summer and for cocktail events and a a couple of nights that we went bar hopping with the cousins! I also wore it on the plane.
When traveling, I always opt for on-trend, effortless basics that are easy to mix and match together. That usually includes tons of lace camis, tees, and bodysuits that can be paired with denim or dressed up with skirts. This is really key for me since it helps to minimize luggage space.
I practically live in denim so you bet I’ll bring a few pairs to rotate through. I’ve been obsessed with high-waisted styles that are looser around the thigh and bum areas. They’re perfect for off-duty style and look great with heels or flats. Denim cutoffs will also be essential for lazy days on the beach and when it comes to shorts i like to opt for a more loose effortless style. I brought these and these and I went up a size to make sure they fit was easy to transition from day to night. In my opinion shorts that are too tight just come across too sexy for a dressed up vibe or night time. Gotta keep it classy ladies! :)
There’s nothing as easy as a summer dress from day to night. I per usual gravitate towards neutral and black but I did throw in some colot too!
SWIMWEAR AND COVER UPS
I’m really having a moment with high waist swim bottoms right now, feels like a retro understated sexy vibe! I’ve also worn these cover up wrap pants almost every day in Formentera! Buying them in more colors for summer. They would also be so cute worn with a bodysuit for evening resort style.
Anytime I’m traveling, I want to explore as much as possible, which calls for comfy shoes. I’m a fan of espadrilles and slides because they’re so simple yet chic - and don’t take up a ton of space either. I also jumped on the dad sneaker trend and LOVE! I wore these a ton to explore San Sebastian with jeans and denim minis! I even dressed them up for a date night in San Sebastian! And because i spaced bringing a simple sandal I picked these up while in Zaragoza and LOVED! They have the elegant look of the Hermes sandals everyone is wearing but priced just right! They are SO comfortable I wore them every day back and forth to the beach.
Simple, classy heels are also essential for special occasions and dressier dinners that come up. Whenever I’m traveling, I’ll go for the most versatile option, which is usually a black ankle strap heel or a pair of nude pumps. You really can’t go wrong with either of those.
A super easy and fun way to put the finishing touches on any outfit is through accented accessories. My favorites pieces for vacation outside of shoes/handbags are sunnies, belts and scarves!
Belts are one accessory that gets overlooked but trust me it will completely change your outfits and give them new life! I never travel without these 3 types of belts!
Wide High Waist Belt: This is such a go to for me and you’ve seen me style this type of belt timeless times. Cinched over a blazer, over a dress or over an oversized white shirt (so effortless). Love this one and this one is really similar to mine.
Western Belt: I love this style of belt with jeans or shorts and an easy tee! perfectly elevated!
Statement Logo Belt: This is your bold belt that is perfect for cocktail or evening events. If you want to splurge you can go for the classic Gucci belt. For a better price I loved this bold red belt, gives the looks of Gucci without the price tag. And I loved the bold color for a pop!
As I mentioned we had a family wedding so there was a lot of cocktail events surrounding it. I like to keep things sleek and sphosticated for cocktail events and always gravitate for black no matter what the occasion. Case and point my above look that I wore to my cousins wedding! For the rehearsal dinner I wore this jumpsuit and layered this jacket over it. I wasn’t able to get a pic but will photograph soon back home! PS this jumpsuit is life and such a great price and DOESN’T wrinkle!
SUMMER BEAUTY ESSENTIALS
I’ve been a skincare fanatic lately especially since I was breaking out earlier this year. On a daily basis, I never go without sunscreen, moisturizer, and of course bronzer. And when I’m traveling, especially for longer periods, I always pack an exfoliator and face mask to make sure I don’t fall off the wagon of my routine. I love my Dr.Gross Exfoliator satchels because they are so easy to pack! If you’re curious about the at home skincare routine, check it out here.
Hey ladies! As you all know, I have my fair share of on-trend pieces, but I’m all for time-honored items I can rewear throughout the season. One of my utmost favorite places to shop, both online and in stores, is Nordstrom. You just can’t beat their expansive collection of trend-driven pieces, classic staples, high-street brands, and designer options. There is literally always something for everyone and I never end up leaving empty handed! With an amazing and versatile mix, Nordstrom is truly the best place to grab everything you need for a chic summer wardrobe. Before I left for my trip to Spain, I stopped by Nordstrom for some newer pieces that I could mix with my current wardrobe. I wanted to share those must-have items with you guys today so you can start building out your summer looks.
Basic tees are definitely a must for me during the summer and anytime I’m traveling. When I am looking for an outfit that is no fuss, I find basic tees are always the solution because they don’t require constant adjusting. You can style them casually with denim or tie them up into a crop top and pair with a high-waisted skirt. Given their simple silhouette and wearability, you can also create various looks through layering. Madewell makes the best tees, and the one I’m wearing today is the Whisper. I re-buy this tee every year and love the way it washes and literally ages into your favotite tee! I go up a size for a more effortless drape.
Summer can get pretty hot so on those extra warm days, I love whipping out swingy skirts. My goal is to always be comfortable and chic, so I find that silk and midi skirts naturally fall within both categories. Reformation is one of my favorite brands for dresses and skirts in general - not only because they’re sustainable but all the cuts are so simple and mix well into everything. This skirt is a perfect example. It comes in a daisy and snake print, but I opted for the brown polka dots to channel that Pretty Woman Polo Match look. Who remembers??!! ;) You can also style it with a simple silk blouse to go from desk to drinks.
Easy Dresses and Jumpsuits
One-and-done pieces like dresses and jumpsuits are perfect for saving space in carry-on or suitcase. I love cotton and linen styles for summer because they always look so chic and beachy. Nordstrom’s dress collection this season is just brimming with the most classic, feminine, and trendy styles that work for vacations, work, or late nights at a bar.
Denim is my one true love and I continue to rock it even in the summer! Currently, I have a thing for loose fitting denim, perhaps with a little distressed detail and a high-waist - or an oversized jacket. As a self-proclaimed denim connoisseur, I am so glad Nordstrom is stocked up in some of my favorite brands from Levi’s to Citizens of Humanity and Madewell. They always have that west-coast cool, off-duty style that is ideal for the summer.
Going back to how important comfort is to me, lingerie is just as critical. Most days, a girl just does not want to be bothered with constricting underwire bras and stiff push up bras! On a day to day basis, I actually prefer bralettes. Within my lingerie collection, I have a few lace bralette options that are neutral and great for wearing under t-shirts. I also love when they peak out from underneath a white button-up or a satin tank.
Barely There Sandals
In addition to chic wardrobe staples, key accessories are just as important! I am always gravitating towards some minimal heeled sandals in black because they never fail to coordinate with everything. But for summer and this trip, I wanted to try the white, naked sandal trend. These Steve Madden sandals are the perfect way to test it out because they’re so affordable yet stylish. I love how they look with midi lengths and can’t wait to style them with some distressed boyfriend jeans.
What trends and styles are you most excited about for summer?
Thank you Nordstrom for sponsoring this post.

Hi Ladies! So I totally chopped off my hair and I LOVE it! You ladies always have a lot of questions about my hair color and about the new do so it thought I’d combine into one post for you!
First of all a little backstory on my hair….
I have naturally curly/wavy thick hair and about a year ago I got a Balayage that totally fried my hair! On top of that I had to start taking some medication for my Hashimotos that really made it SO dry! Needles to say my hair was at the point of no return, I was struggling so much trying to make it not look like straw that I was over it, I was ready for a change!
Where I Went
I ended up finding a new hair salon that everyone had been raving about Rinse Hair Salon in my San Diego area. I thought what the heck I’ll try someone new because I was crunched for time and about to travel. I ended up getting set up with Ashley and the first time I saw her we did a good trim and covered my grays, YES I have grey and it sucks! Anyway I figured before I made any big changes I’d start with that to make sure I liked her work. She did such a great job and totally listened to my description. AND I’m picky because full disclosure I used to do hair for a living!!! Anyway I was super happy and LOVED the vibe of the salon, super modern and they had me at concrete! ;) If you’re local, I highly recommend.
What I ask for : Color
Because my hair is still on the mend we just cover my roots with a dark neutral brown but the magic is in the ends… we use a toffee colored gloss! This warms up my ends and also gives my hair variation. We also leave out pieces so that there is dimension and it doesn’t all look one color! So faux high and low lights without the damage… Genius right!?
Like I said, i was ready for a change and I’d seen some great inverted bobs, that’s the name of the cut if you want to get technical! Basically it’s a collar length bob that is shorter in the back. I like super choppy layers but not too much or it shatters the outline of the cut. Then I also had her do some layers in the crown so that I could have lots of volume! OBSESSED with my new cut and my hair feels so healthy and fresh! I actually think I’ll keep it this length for a while i love it so much.
What Products I’m Using
Because my hair is still really dry Ashley recommended I use this Virtue Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner products to bring my hair back to life. So far I am loving and they smell like a dream! If you girls recall I also have eczema on my scalp so I have been alternating with mu Neutrogena T/Sal Shampoo to keep my scalp in check!
I start out with this leave in frizz cream then let it air dry. I used to use my T3 Curling iron to do my hair but now it’s so short it doesn’t work as well so I started using my GHD Flatiron to give it a bend/curl but still keep it edgy. You could also use a smaller curling iron, maybe a 1in. and leave out the ends.
After I do the iron I put this Virtue Split End Serum on my ends to give them shine. Then I finish the whole look with my favorite IGK Beach Waves, that really gives me the volume and NOT perfect vibe that I like!
If you’re local you can get all these products at Rinse Hair Salon and they could even recommend others that are ideal for your hair!
I hope this is helpful and answers the questions on my hair, and let me know if there’s anything else i can answer in the comments and I’ll make sure to respond!
Cheers and have a great weekend ladies!
