I am finally getting a chance to sit down to recount my recent trip to New York! Funny thing is I am heading back there next week! Ha! Ok, promise I'll be quicker on the content flow! Anyway, I went to New York to help my blogger bestie Erica of Fashioned Chic to work on Marissa Webb's lookbook for her latest Fall 2017 collection! This year instead of doing a runway show Marissa decided to create a lookbook and video to bring all her pieces to life. I've been a long time fan of Marissa Webb's work from afar and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to meet her and witness how she brought together a collection! I've always been attracted to how she balances a bit of tomboy chicness and femininity all in one. I've long coveted her leather pieces and jackets that are nothing short of impeccable craftsmanship.
We spent 5 days playing AND trying on every piece she had so beautifully created! I mean can you say dream! Marissa's creative vision was one of effortlessness, a bit undone, structured, raw and layered. Mixing colors that maybe shouldn't go together but somehow work SO well. I remember her repeating, "I don't like things too pretty!" Or my interpretation; laid back cool girl chic! From the models modern take on Edwardian lived in hair to barely there makeup. Everything felt like no fuss. The kind of clothes you want to own and live in.
I actually ended up extending my trip so I could see the project fully realized and I am so happy I did. Such a dream watch it all come together from the model, hair, makeup, photographer and it goes without saying the clothes! It was truly a pinch me New York fashion moment.
Scroll through to see Marissa Webb's beautiful collection as she envisioned sharing it with you all and some behind the scenes captures!
A special thanks to Marissa Webb and her team for making me feel so welcome! It was truly a dream. and a BIG thank you to my girl Erica of Fashioned Chic Styling, so grateful to have shared this with you!
